Never mind the b*!!*cks, here’s building grant writing skills
With many newer universities looking to increase their research activity and quality, grow research funding and embed impact into research, Bournemouth University presents for discussion an approach it is taking to build a more Research Councils-savvy culture.
Together with Stephen Kemp, BU developed a Research Council Development Scheme in 2018, which allows cohorts of academics from three different career stages to develop in the mechanisms required to write a successful research application that generates real impact. Interactive sessions were held for all aspects of applying for funding, as well as learning how to participate in peer review, and the provision of time to write applications and gain 1-2-1 tuition. To complement this, BU also provided softer skills for project management and have introduced a Research Impact Programme for 2019.
In this interactive session, come and find out how you too can engage academics from all career stages, utilise resources and build impact into research, in order to achieve long-term research growth that is sustainable within your university. This session is primarily focussed to post-1992 and small universities but all are welcome to attend.
