This session will cover an overview of past submissions and an analysis of historical research assessment exercise data, lessons learned and the importance of responsible approaches to the use of metrics. (Including a presentation from Clarivate). Attendees will be invited to engage with colleagues in a series of discussions on some of the key challenges and opportunities presented by the use of metrics in our preparations for the next REF.
This will include;
- A discussion about the pitfalls and mistakes that have been made previously in evaluation when selecting outputs.
- Best practice examples of responsible selection of outputs.
- An open discussion about ethical research evaluation and different HEIs approaches to the responsible metrics agenda.
