Room: Hampton

This session explores how we can achieve swift and informed decision-making in areas of ethical and reputational risk without the need for an institutional code of ethics.
Effective leadership in matters of governance is a key priority for all universities, and knowing how best to act in order to protect a reputation in times of almost constant change is a big challenge.  Recognising that an organization will never be risk free, the session outlines 2 different University-wide approaches designed to enable scrutiny of decisions at the appropriate level, whilst maintaining the momentum of day-to-day business.  Participants will be invited to discuss these approaches, consider the pros and cons of their applicability at their own institution, and to test them out by working through a case study in small groups.
