Sumi David is Head of Research and Impact (Policy and Performance) at the University of Exeter where she is responsible for co-ordinating Exeter’s REF2021 submission. Sumi joined Exeter from the AHRC where she headed the Strategic Planning, Evidence and Impact team. There, she led on the gathering, analysis and commissioning of evidence to support strategic decision-making and business cases and to articulate the impact and value of AHRC-funded research. Prior to AHRC, Sumi was Senior Research Analyst for the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research at the University of Cambridge where she also supported impact case study and environment statement development for REF2014.
“Additionality” in the context of economic impact evaluations has a very precise meaning with the concept considered side-by-side with “counterfactuals” and “impact deadweight”.
