Emma Gibbard is the Research Impact Manager in the University of Bath’s Research and Innovation Service. Emma’s work includes building knowledge and skills in research impact, supporting the development of high-quality research proposal and developing impact case studies for the Universities Research Excellence Framework submission. Before joining Bath Emma was Head of Evaluation for three NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups. Emma experience includes in research, evaluation and service development in the field of health and social care and has a PhD from the University of Bristol.

Demands on the time of both academics and professional services continues to grow – especially against a backdrop of shorter funder deadlines and institutionally set demands around preparing for REF as examples. We have used both Writing Retreats and Writing Sprints as easily adaptable tools to counter time-related stresses, providing a positive space and structure
