Research Evaluation and Research Impact: Connecting agendas through the INORMS Working Groups

Date & Time:

17th June 2019
09:45 - 11:00

Room:

Meeting Room 3b

At INORMS 2018, two working groups were established to address key issues in international research management. ‘Research Evaluation’, led by Dr Elizabeth Gadd, and ‘Research Impact and Stakeholder Engagement (RISE)’ co-led by Dr David Phipps and Dr Julie Bayley have been exploring and consulting on a range of issues since.

‘Research Evaluation’ is focused on encouraging critical appraisals of world rankings, and developing briefing materials for senior leaders to inform the responsible use of indicators for better decision making.

RISE is focused on understanding impact needs across the sector, establishing informed judgements of third party providers, and broadly driving impact literacy across our global community.

In this session, we will update ARMA on progress so far, with a particular focus on engaging ARMA members in discussions about ongoing and potential activities.

The session will be a mix of briefings and workshop activities to invite commentary, reflections and suggestions on next steps, and consider how the work can directly benefit the ARMA community.

Presented by:

Dr Elizabeth Gadd - Research Policy Manager (Publications) at Loughborough University

Dr Julie Bayley - Director of Research Impact Development at the University of Lincoln
