Jemma began her career in HE at Hartpury College, a faculty of UWE, having completed a BSc (Hons) in Equine Science at the same location. Starting out as an Academic Systems Administrator and working her way up to managing the Student Advisor team secured her interest in HE specialising in the Student Experience. In 2011 Jemma returned to her roots in Cornwall having been offered the role of Research Administrator at Falmouth University. Now six years on, Jemma is the Research & Development Support Officer, leading on the development of the PGR experience at Falmouth. A predominant strand to the role is supporting and advising postgraduate research students and their supervisors throughout the research degree journey, including the milestones and their processes, the regulations, and the coordination of training programmes for both students and research staff. Jemma is also a key point of contact and liaison for Falmouth as part of the 3D3 Centre for Doctoral Training, and for partner institution UAL for the awarding of PhDs. As the Servicing Officer for the Research Degrees Committee, Research Ethics Committee and Research & Innovation Committee Jemma provides key intelligence on the research student environment to senior management.
