James Toon is Customer Consultant for Pure with a global remit. James previously worked with the University of Edinburgh for seven years, the last four of which were in the capacity of Research Information Systems manager where he was principally responsible for the University’s Pure implementation. Previous University roles included working as Project Manager and Scholarly Communications manager within the Library and Collections division of Information Services. James has been heavily involved in the UK user community for Pure over the years and has an active interest in how Universities manage ever increasing demands for research information, and how this can be used to their best advantage. James holds a BEng (Hons) in Civil and Transportation Engineering from Edinburgh Napier University and has a background in both the private and public sector, having worked over the past 20 years in consultancy (Atkins) and within various software development companies and institutions including the National Library of Scotland. When not at work James can usually be found roaming the hills of Scotland, often with his trusty labrador in tow.
