Deryn is the Research Grants Coordinator at Cranfield University for the School of Water, Energy and Environment and the School of Management.  Following a degree in Applied Biology at the University of Hertfordshire, Deryn worked for several years on an EU Framework grant studying the anatomy and behavioural effects of neurodegenerative diseases, before moving into research funding at the Wellcome Trust. Here as a Grants Adviser she was responsible for fellowship and responsive mode applications, the management of awarded grants and was lead on several funding schemes including early career fellowships and the undergraduate summer scholarship programme. She then moved into industry working for IHS as a Senior Analyst in the Critical Communications sector, working in the area of market intelligence and custom consultancy. Deryn joined Cranfield University from a health charity where she was in an information and research communications role.
