Aberystwyth University has developed an innovative webservice to allow research equipment and facilities data to be harvested by the UK research equipment database equipment.data.ac.uk from Aberystwyth University’s Current Research Information System (CRIS) PURE. The service is built on PURE Webservices and has achieved equipment.data’s gold compliance standard by making the data as freely discoverable and searchable as possible. Sharing equipment data in this way is part of an Aberystwyth University project to maintain a catalogue of research equipment and facilities in response to the Wakeham report on Financial Sustainability and Efficiency in Higher Education, and new guidelines for grant applications to Research Councils which require consideration of sharing equipment. The poster illustrates the technical solution and data flow between PURE and equipment.data.
Comply with Research Councils guidelines for equipment sharing and publishing data to equipment.data.
Manage and develop an equipment catalogue using PURE.
